Blue Bay pier.

My last full day in Mauritius was a very short one for me due to the weather again. The plan was to hire a car for a full day as I have not visited most parts of the island. I woke up a bit late today as the night before I had dinner with some of the hotel guests which I got acquainted with. It rained heavily again in the morning and being in a resort for more then half a day was kinda painful to digest especially with the inconsistency of the hotel wifi signals. It was about noon when the rain stopped but it was still drizzling and I quickly walked to the Mahebourg bus station and took the bus to the nearest popular beach which is located at Blue Bay about half an hour bus ride away. As I looked up at the sky, it was not that convincing enough for me to go see the beach goers in bikinis. The bus ride was an interesting one though, passing by high end houses by the sea side and left me wondering if I could afford one in my life time. In shaa Allah (God willing)

The weather at the beach was surprisingly good with the sun shining brightly but dark clouds were quickly looming. Lazed around by the trees near the beach and was offered a snorkeling trip by a few operators for half the price that was published. I jumped at the offer but only realised  that I was out of Mauritius Rupees and the nearest ATM was a couple of kilometres away. Luckily I just had enough for the bus ride back to Mahebourg. I must have used them up on dinner last night. Not my day I guess. After spending a couple of hours by the beach and it’s surroundings I decided to call it a day and what’s left of it. As a traveller I have to accept things that are not beyond my control. Win some lose some. As the saying goes ..’It could have been much worse’.

Bus back to Mahebourg.

Went back to my hotel and started to pack up my things as the next day, I would have to wake up early for a morning flight to Cape Town where I would be continuing my trip on the African mainland for the next 75 days, In shaa Allah ( God Willing). I thought of leaving for the airport with the morning bus thus avoiding the expensive taxi ride but was advised against it as the bus station in Mahebourg would be chaotic as the Thaipusam festival would be held near the proximity of the bus station. Not my day I guess but it’s all part of travelling where plans don’t fit and where surprises always happens ….Wishful thinking…… The thought of going out with the other guests tonight was put on a hold. I didn’t want to miss my flight tomorrow as all the flight connections to Cape Town were either full or expensive … Had an early night ……
