I am The Fakawi Traveller. If you want to read about the steps that brought me here
grab a cup of coffee and
let’s travel back
in time.

Read on below.

I may not be everybody’s first choice, but I’m a great choice. I don’t pretend to be someone I’m not, because I’m good at being me. I may not be proud of everything I have done, but I am proud of who I am today. So take me as I am, or watch me as I walk away.
I was born on the 16th of February 1962 to Capt Osman (Ozzie) Mohd Zain and Raimah (Ray) Ibrahim at the Bangsar Hospital , Kuala Lumpur. I had lived a nomadic life in my early years as my father who was an Army Officer who was posted to various parts of Malaysia and Overseas The first house that I was raised was at the grounds of the Royal Military College , Sungai Besi and later on to Ipoh , Perak. The very first overseas trip in my life was to Australia in 1965 where my father attended the Staff College Course at Fort Queenscliff, Victoria .We lived in Point Lonsdale on the outskirts of Geelong. After Australia it was Ipoh again and then back to Kuala Lumpur. In 1969 our family were in Kuching, Sarawak where I started my schooling life at St Joseph primary school.. In 1970 my father was posted to Kluang , Johor and after 2 years there we went to Jakarta , Indonesia as he was appointed the Military Attache at the Malaysia Embassy there.
I started my secondary school at Sekolah Menengah Sains Selangor in Kuala Lumpur before continuing at the Royal Military College, Sungai Besi. I did followed my parents to New Delhi , India where my father was attending the National Defence College where I did spend 3 months there. Upon returning to Malaysia I enlisted myself into the Malaysian Army as an Officer Cadet at the Officers Cadet School (Sebatang Karah) in Port Dickson , Negeri Sembilan.. In 1981 I was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Malaysia Army Ordnance Corps and attended the Ammunition Technical Officer course at the University of Technology Malaysia , Kuala Lumpur. Upon graduation I was posted to Taiping , Perak to command a small army unit . Batu Arang , Selangor was my next posting and then to the Ministry of Defence in Kuala Lumpur . All my appointments in the army requires me to travel all over Malaysia visiting Army formations from Kangar, Perlis to Tawau , Sabah . I had the opportunity to travel extensively by road , air and sea on Royal Malaysian Air Force aircraft and Royal Malaysian Navy vessels . I had a couple of overseas trips which were to attend a course (Republic of Korea) and assignments related .(West Germany).

After 7 wonderful years in the Army I did resigned my commission with my last rank as Captain to start a new phase of my life.
